Egypt will extend the suspension of air traffic for an additional two weeks, Minister of Information Osama Heikal said on Tuesday.

Egypt suspended international flights to and from the country at all airports nationwide on 19 March.

Only exceptional flights to bring nationals back home have been operated.

Egypt has so far registered 366 coronavirus cases, including 19 fatalities.

On Tuesday, the country announced it was imposing a curfew from 7pm to 6am for 15 days as of Wednesday as part of stricter measures to limit the spread of the coronavirus.

Egypt also extended the closure of schools and universities as well as suspended all mass public and private transport during curfew hours, and closed all cafes, restaurants and sports clubs.
